Job Title: Herdsperson / General Farm Person
Location: Marchamley, Shrewsbury, Shropshire
Salary: £38,800 per annum
Hours: 50–60 hours per week
Start Time: Early Starts Required

We are working on behalf of a well-established, family-run dairy farm in the heart of Shropshire to recruit a Herdsperson / General Farm Person. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about livestock and sustainable farming to join a progressive and supportive team.

About the Farm:

350 autumn-calving cows milked twice daily through a 32-point rotary parlour.
Focused on regenerative and sustainable farming methods.
Milk from the herd is used to produce traditional artisan cheeses and whey butter made on-site in one of the last remaining farmhouse dairies.
The herd is bred using Viking genetics to maintain quality and yield.
Key Responsibilities:

Daily care of the herd, with animal welfare as the top priority.
Milking to a high standard as part of a team, maintaining a clean and safe parlour.
Monitoring herd health, identifying illnesses, and reporting concerns promptly.
Keeping accurate and up-to-date records for compliance.
Liaising with vets, nutritionists, and farm consultants.
Supporting dry cow management, calving, and colostrum protocols.
General farm upkeep and maintenance, including machinery.
Ensuring the yard and facilities are tidy and safe.
Requirements:

Full UK driving licence.
Right to work in the UK.
Previous experience in dairy farming, with particular focus on milking.
Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail.
Commitment to hygiene, safety, and animal care.
A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
Desirable (Not Essential):

Foot trimming and AI qualifications.
Telehandler and/or forklift licences.
